Theatrical 4 - 'All I See Is You'

Trailer:

Analysis:

This trailer uses conventions rom a thriller/horror and a drama, creating a hybrid style. The equilibrium established at the beginning, presents the protagonists problem at the beginning (suffering from blindness). The beginning of the trailer uses the disorientating style of the diegetic sounds and voiceover with a black screen, so the audience is unaware of the genre and the narrative, therefore drawing them in. The constant tapping of the stick increases tension, maintaining a fast pace and a time awareness to the trailer. This tension is increased with the opportunity of sight. However, again the use of sound creates more unnerving tension as the echo of the doctors voiceover along with the soundscape of fading, distorted and echoing voices disorientates the viewer, giving a tension as to the result of the operation. The drama romantic element of the film is shown in the following scenes as there is a lighter colouration with, simple and uptempo music, along with bright coloured mist en scene. This is then again undercut with the change in reverb on the song, distorting the sound and accompanying it with a crescendoed and increasing pitch, distortion effect. This is coupled with he darkening tones of the shots, along with the separation of the husband from wife. The reversed clip of them walking does increase tension as it implies an undoing. The next montage increases tension and is a disruption to the equilibrium as the pace of the shots increases, along with the length of shots decreasing. The constant time keeping style tapping is reintroduced, adding a sinister effect, creating suspense and disorientating the audience. The sped up clips along with the flashing and the increase in volume of distortion all comply with a thriller genre of film, along with the bloody eye creating a sense of gore, complying with he thriller horror genre. This further confuses the audience about the true genre of the film. This trailer ends on an intense abrupt finish, making the viewer intrigued in the narrative . This trailer challenges the conventions of a romance drama, mixing them with thriller conventions.
