Theatrical Trailer - PSYCHO
This is my theatrical trailer for Psycho.
I chose to use the famous music at the beginning, to add suspense and show that the place where the car is driving to. Also i used the sign to reiterate the fact that the motel is a dangerous place, with the misleading inviting sign saying 'vacancy'. I used the names of the key people involved because, for example Alfred Hitchcock was famous, so knowing it was one of his films may widen the audience. I used the sound against a black screen to reiterate the idea of isolation and set up the fact that Janet Leigh's character is the victim. I wanted to use the clips from the original trailer which consisted of Alfred Hitchcock touring the set of the film as there are some key lines such as the one I included which adds a suspense to the film, really highlighting the horror/thriller genre. In the following shots, i try to not include both of the perceived main characters because this adds tension as o who is talking in the voiceover. After this, i increase the number and reduce the speed of the shots to enhance the tension and create intensity, to a climax which is the circled eye at the end.
