Psycho - Poster
This is a narrative poster i created. I used a very haunting shot for the background as the woman is in the window, which shows the thriller genre of the film, also creating mystery and suspense as to her role in the film. I wanted to contrast this with the colour of the other girl, this highlights her normality and also her costume in this image is very bare, showing her vulnerability. Her face also includes fear and surprise, suggesting, along with her clothes (or lack of them) that she could be the victim of something. I chose to include the man in the foreground of the poster to show how he is a main character in the film and also the expression he has doesn't suggest he is the killer, therefore making the audience wonder what role he plays in the film. I used the main characters' names a the top of the poster because this is a convention of poster creation but it also makes Janet Leigh seem as it she is the main character in the story, however she dies at the beginning. I decided to use the colour red for the background of the text because it has the connotations of danger, blood, strength and anger, which re all conventional themes of a horror/thriller film. I decided to use the quote from the film at the top to conform with the genre but also it adds suspense because the audience is questioning who is mad and who is going mad and therefore who is the 'Psycho'.
