Evaluation Question 3

Audience Feedback: Our Response: After showing the trailer for ‘Borderlines’ to our target audience, the response we received overall was extremely positive. We found that our dramatic use of sound and editing techniques in conjunction with the professional use of camera work made the storytelling shine through and effectively engaged the audience. This was shown by the fact that the audience was able to formulate an idea of what might happen in the rest of the film, creating a talking point without giving too much of the plot away.  A majority of the audience was able to identify the genre of the trailer, sitting between drama and coming of age. It was pointed out that this was made apparent though the use of camerawork and framing, as well as the more naturalistic and subtle use of colour correction and layering of diegetic audio with appropriate emotive music and voiceover. We also received feedback on things that we could improve within the trailer, such as fu...

Storyboard Alterations

Storyboard Alterations The Second draft of our trailer is much more evolved than the first with all of the footage filmed and incorporated, text screens added, and sound included within the draft.  However, there were many alterations made during the editing of our second draft which pulled it away from out original storyboard intentions. When we came to recording and editing in the scripted dialogue it ended up taking up much more time than we had planned meaning we were no longer able to create a trailer made up of a series of scenes and instead had to go for more of a montage style trailer. This altered our trailer dramatically but we decided it was necessary as the dialogue is the key indicator of plot within the piece. We also had to cut scenes from our trailer which we were unable to film effectively. The scene in the hallway was reduced to simply dropping the drawing on the ground as, despite our best efforts and research, the contrast between the cool outside light an...

Final Trailer

Image
Alterations for our Final Draft Our feedback from our second draft of our trailer suggested that we needed to make some minor tweaks to the sound of our trailer to make it more cohesive and to also consider our colour pallet in more detail.  For our final draft we altered the sound, cutting out a section of the scripting where the narrative seemed to dwindle slightly. We also make some slight colour corrections to add to the professional feel of the trailer and then, briefly, added a shot of a black paint stroke swiping across a finished painting. This shot had previously been cut out of our trailer as we made alterations to our storyboard. However, we were sorry to see it go so decided to reintroduce it to our piece.
