Analysis:

The music is a key aspect of any trailer and in this one, it creates intrigue in the sense that it opens as a dissonant chromatic chord played almost uncomfortably high on strings, which conventionally suggests danger or tension to the scene. Opening with this fading in along with the slow fade of the establishing shot, implies that the audience will have to wait and the scene will develop unexpectedly, in duration and in narrative. The voice-over contrasts with the pitch of the chord as it is deeper in tone and more intimate volume, this draws the audience in. The words used also invite the audience and achieve this in the direction address to them, using pronouns such as you which draws the audience to the story. The subsequent surge in the music and fast paced action of the character that enters causes a panic that ensues as the narrative unfolds. The long transitional cuts to black also add a sense of mystery and ambiguity as the location changes through each shot. The handheld camera gives a strong sense of action and panic, making the audience feel tense as they are not sure what is going on. This fast pace coupled with the instrumental stabs maintains this sense of suspense. This trailer uses snippets of larger clips from random points in the film and when they are placed in non chronological order, the juxtaposition makes the audience more confused and therefore more interested in seeing the film. This therefore causes a lapse in narrative interest and more genre interest. The use of the iconic music and the font also draws the audience in as well.
